Books for your Mother, Pt 2
After writing Books For Mom, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the great books I have read! I will warn you, I enjoy crime, romance, and some types of comedy. That’s a pretty big range of books to be found, but I promise there will be something for everyone.

In this post, most of these books (if not all) are considered adult books. That means I wouldn’t let my 8-year-old read them. 🙂
Go the F**K to Sleep-
This book is what every single one of us has thought at least once in our parenting careers. Basically, the plea to just go to bed, as told by a parent to child. This book is hysterical, but NOT considered to be a bedtime story.

50 Shades Of Gray-
I am going to need you to trust me when I say that the books are SOOO much better than the movies. They are so good, and so wrong why wouldn’t you read this trilogy? Pro tip– they are better read with a spouse 🙂
I love this book and often find myself thinking about it or referencing it. “Do you want a chocolate pie?” lol. This book will for sure become a classic in the years to come. I do think all girls at a certian age should read this book.
The Fault In Our Stars-
Again, so much better than the movie. I cry every single time I read this, which is like every 6 months or so. If you have not read this (where have you been honestly?) I will give you one tid bit, this story is a trigger story and is a sensitive read.
Angels & Demons-
First, it was the Divinci Code, and I was stuck! Now this one will tie them together and you will never want to get out of that cozy chair and be domestic again! This book is so action packed, it’s not a good choice right before bed.
This book is as good as its movie counterpart. I don’t know that you will ever hear that from me again. If you have seen the movie but not read the book you need to stop reading this right now and go. Seriously, this post will still be here when you are done! This book is true heroism at its finest. And utter heartbreak all wrapped into one beautifully written book. If you enjoy true stories about war and the military, this book will be perfect for you. For me, this too is not a bedtime read.
From Potters Feild & Blow Fly-
Kay Scarpetta is the main character in both of these books. She is a medical examiner and usually finds herself in terrible situations that have the potential to turn deadly. Patrica Cornwell is one of my most treasured authors, so ANY book by her is a win in my book! And again, its a little scary ( I am afaid of the dark people) so maybe save these books for daytime hours.
About a single mom who is raising two young boys, one is autistic. This book is a real eye-opener into the world and life surrounding autism, and I encourage all of you to read this. I have reread this so many times I think sometimes pops up in my dreams! It is both intreiguing and sad, and so absolutly heart touching that it is a very deep book. Also, one of my all time favorite books.
Water For Elephants-
Truly a sad eye-opening book, this one is sure to hit a chord with many. I found myself glued to this book for an entire day and then wanting more. Again, the movie sucks, but this book is a sure win!
“Life is the most spectacular show on earth ♥”
Elephant Girl-A Human Story-
This book left a mark on my soul for the rest of my life. While reading you will hear from one girl at three different parts of her life: childhood, Teenage, and adulthood. It is remarkable and so cruel what she had to live with and through. I recommend reading this book alone in small bursts as you will feel depressed after reading if you read it all in one sitting.
An oldie but such a goodie! This is by Christopher Darden, the prosecuting attorney for the famous O.J. Simpson trial. He documents everything in vivid detail about the nearly year-long trial.
Did you really think I would not recommend the most famous romance in the history of books? This book is my go to bath time book. I can pick it up and open to any page and be quite cozy starting anywhere. I love Mr. Sparks so very much and his writing always soothes my heart!
Another stupidly amazing book by Nicholas Sparks, this one is about a pair of teenagers who fall in love only for him to deploy. I fell in love with this before Channing Tatum was the star of the movie, so there’s that!
I will continue to update these lists as I read more, and as always I am ready to read more so if you have a must-read recommendations I would love to hear them!!
