Tell me I am not alone here. You tidy up the house while the kids and hubby are at school and work. The kitchen looks on point, and the lines are in the carpet from the vacuum. Everything is looking fresh and clean. Then, you turn to the couch (or in my case, couches) and fill up in disgust and maybe a titch of sadness. Dog hair. Kid crumbs. Little bits of paper, and maybe even a few toys are thrown in. So, what do we do? Turn to the trusty blanket routine. You know the old song and dance. Find a nice blanket that somewhat matches the decor of your living room, and gives it a nice toss onto the couch. What you need is a couch cover.
It’s not that you aren’t trying. It’s just that you are out of options. And giving up the family for a clean looking couch is NOT an option. I think I may have found the solution, but it’s going to take a few tweaks.

All Couch Covers Are NOT The Same
With so many different styles and price points, it’s a little hard to know where to start. Innex makes one that drapes and hooks, and that is the one we will be focusing on today.
This product is intended for a full-size couch. I am using a convertible futon.
Using Your Couch Cover By Innex
This couch cover is made by Innex. You can find it on Amazon.
Simply drape your cover over the couch. The extra cutouts go over the arms. The skinnier flap drapes over the back.
Notice the loops on the inside of the cover. Use this to hook the bungee too, over the back of the couch.
Your cover is now on and you are finished, according to Innex.
Upgrade Your Couch Cover- Hot Mess Style
Because my couch moves and adjusts to my needs, this cover is perfect, even if its just a little big. While washing my couch cover in hot water (trying to shrink it which did not work, by the way) I noticed a few more loops. This gave me an idea. I am going to try to hook into those with something to help hold this sucker in place. It does move quite a bit.
Testing A Theory
Innex provides a bungee that is adjustable and, by all accounts, is pretty strong. But it only has two hooks to secure the couch cover. I would like to add two more hook points with a tether to help. Let’s try.
All I am going to do is take some ribbon and loop it thru the arm loops. I will tie in the back.
Nope. I won’t even show you pictures of this.
At first, it pulled it together in the back. But after the first dog jumped on there ( and all 5 did, the second it was on the couch) it kind of shifted, making it look like a disaster. No thank you.
Keep in mind, this was made for a full-size couch. I am guessing that means with removable cushions. This couch cover has little-weighted rolls of stuff into the couch. They are useless on the futon for the most part.
Not A Fail, But Not A Complete Win Either
Let’s list a few of the pros because it’s important that you understand that there ARE in fact a few of them.
- Microsuede (or something similar) in a rich brown color. It’s soft and has zero loft. I like that there are no loose fibers for Buddy to chew on because those are his favorite.
- This thing REPELS liquid, which I adore and that alone is a win for me.
- It comes with an adjustable bungee tether thing. I like that it adjusts because when its too tight and comes snapping off and hits, that hurts.
Now for the not so great:
- Its arm flaps are just a little long. This might be suited better for higher armed couches.
- It has a ton of extra loops which make me think that they would be great to attach to ribbon and secure down. But, its a trick. I have not quite figured out why they were included.
Get’s The Job Done
Overall, this couch cover gets the job done. It repels liquid and has no little strings or fibers for the dogs to chew. Its plenty long (read: way too long) but, it’s not that big of a deal.
Do you have a cover for your couch or do you throw a blanket and call it good? What do you look for in a couch cover to suit all of your needs? I would love to know.
Until next time
