Did you think this was going to be one of those how-to posts? Where a super savvy tech chick (or fella!) walks you through, step by step, and tells you how to set up your blog, and at the end you profess your love for? I am sorry ( -not sorry, wait you’ll see) to tell you that anything beyond this post (sans any ads) is completely foreign to me. And to be honest, I really don’t want to deal with that. And I never will have to. Thanks to The Blog Press!
I always knew that I wanted to write, even at a young age. But, I always found a reason NOT to put that to use; I was too late in turning in? my spelling was terrible? (thank you, Grammarly!) Or, perhaps the worst reason; I did not turn it in or apply for what I wanted, I decided I was going to do this as a means to provide a little for my kids. And maybe my shopping habit. 😉 I did not, however; start it because I wanted to deal with the pain of coding and the stress of setting a site up, from nothing.
For me, the idea of having to do any of those things was a huge turn-off. So I set out to find more. I looked at site ground, and I looked at just hosting sites like BlueHost and HostGator. While I am sure they are fantastic for others who know so much more than I do, they were not a perfect fit.
I came to The Blog Press in February, and at once knew I had made the right decision. The first thing they tell you is not to play with anything for 30 days. I know, I know, that is an insane amount of time when you just want to get to it, but trust them, trust me, just wait. I decided to wait, with the exceptions of changing my site name and tagline.
Next, you are going to be given the holy freaking grail of blogging, the blogging bible if you will. Here, we just call it the knowledge base, but I am pretty sure they need to rename it! It holds all of the tips and tricks that you are asking on forums and group boards! Questions about things like: “How can I make money blogging?” and ” What is the difference between posts and pages?” can be found all in one area, called the knowledge base.
But wait, there’s so much more! Not only do they provide a handy guide, they are also a full-service web host! What is that, you ask? This means that you can either purchase a domain name (and get your fancy .com name) or just stick with the blog press and keep .theblogpress.com on your sites name. Both ways work seamlessly as the other. They also set it up for you if you decide that you are like me and just came to write. They have tons of free themes, which are gorgeous and super customizable, and a 3-month blogging course that you can always refer back to. Oh, hold on, you learn better via video rather than text? No worries girl, they have those too. Oh, yea and Yoast and MailChimp are already there waiting to be utilized!
And yes, it is using the WordPress platform, so don’t worry about having to relearn all of that!
Too good to be true? Give them a try. They have a risk free trial of 14 days. So what do you have to loose? Nothing. There, now you know where to find exceptional service that is truly unbeatable.
Until next time…
