Hot Glue And Tulle: A Pinterest Love Affair
Who doesn’t just love Pinterest? I have created many projects found there, and have been inspired for other projects. I have been burned by hot glue, stabbed by sewing needles and splattered by paint. By far, Pinterest is my go-to search engine. I know it sounds like I am writing another one of those super helpful how-to posts, and I am sorry to say that this is not one of those posts. No, this my friends, is all of the things Pinterest had led me to craft in some way! And, all of the things I am so proud of!! I will give y’all a little info about the project, but you will find no how-to tutorials today. If you guys want to know how I did something here, drop me a line and I might just create a tutorial!
Upcycling, some assembly required!
This was such a fun project! To make it, I reused one of Matt’s 38-inch tires. I then cut the boards (left over from a fence we built a few years ago) with a saw to 18 inches for the front half of the tire and 36 inches for the arms and 40 for the next and 50 inches for the back. To seal the boards, I hit them with fire (torch, because the fire pit in my yard was a desaster!) until they turned black and then took an SOS pad to them to remove a little of the charred areas. After, I painted some stain. After it dried I rubbed them down with coconut oil and screwed them to the tire.
The middle of the tire is boarded up, and on top now sits a nice little cushion to sit on. As of today, it is in my living room where you will likely find it occupied by one of the dogs, or myself.
Costume Tutus- hot glue and tulle required
The pictures above ^ were for my 4-year-old niece. She wore an undershirt (don’t worry mama’s, it was long sleeve) and pants under the skirt. Real seashells are hot glued onto the tulle, along with pearls. This thing took me an entire afternoon. But sooo worth it as she was the cutest little girl at the party!
(speaking of hot glue, are you looking for one? I found this great deal for you–> CCbetter Mini Hot Melt Glue Gun with 25pcs Glue Sticks High Temperature Melting Glue Gun Kit Flexible Trigger for DIY Small Craft Projects&Sealing and Quick Repairs(20-watt, Blue) )
With that said, my baby was not at that party! Below you see Miss Captin America! She is rocking the full fluffy tutu, with suspenders made of ribbon and bling, along the back is a cape (we just went full on with the superhero, sorry Marvel enthusiasts 🙁 ) with bling star and her mask. The tutu has red white and blue pearls. This thing took a week to get just right, but she was rocking the crap out of it all night!

Easter Egg Art
The concept behind these eggs started as ” Hey let’s do paper mache eggs and paint them gold so the kids each find a golden egg!” and quickly changed to “hey let’s think of a different egg for each kid and agonize over the design because I am a control freak!”
Next are my kids custom Easter Baskets. These things were the coolest!
